[edit] Kolpak vs Bosman

Due to the number of players with EU passports being added to the Kolpak list I have added a comment trying to clarify the difference. However with the press increasingly using 'Kolpak' to refer to any non-England qualified player the distinction is likely to become blurred. Should we consider a note in the text (rather than an invisible comment) on this, or even defining Kolpak as others do? ReadingOldBoy (talk) 17:09, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

I certainly don't think we should define it as the press often do. The comment is fine for now, perhaps it could be mentioned in the text if it continues. Last August when Warne was looking into applying for German citizenship (he can't get it, which I found out in five minutes!) several media outlets were saying that he'd become a Kolpak player, which of course is wrong. I did mention this in an article I wrote on the issue for CricketEurope [1] which I guess could be used as a reference. Andrew nixon (talk) 18:55, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
