Kolta is a village and municipality in the Nové Zámky District in the Nitra Region of south-west Slovakia.

In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1337

The village lies at an altitude of 175 metres and covers an area of 25.854 km². It has a population of about 1,644 people.

The population is about 96% Slovak and 4% Magyar.

Kolta is also the name of a community that lives in the Jaunsar Bawar area of Chakrata block in Dehradun district in the Himalayas of north [India]. This low caste is a part of the Jaunsari tribe that is also characterized by polygamy (although reduced) and some very old customs.
