[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!

Dear Kojack0: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD! --omtay38 05:01, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks Omtay38

Thanks for your help / support mate.

I have added some info on my user page. Is that the sort of thing that's good? Have started updating / adding to pages already. Let me know if I'm doing anything wrong!

Hello Kojack0, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. As you seem to have already found out, your userpage looks fine (in fact, it looks very similar to mine. Just so you know there is a whole [[[WP:USER|page]] about what you can and cannot have on your user page (in case you're ever unsure). As for communicating with other users, let's take an example: User A posts a message on User B's Talk page. Most of the time User A will put User B's talk page on his (User A's) watchlist. Then when User A check his watchlist he will see any messages for him on User B's talk page. This is the method I (and I think most users) use. If you really need to get the attention of another user, you should post a message on their talk page. If you do that, next time they log in they will get that "you have new messages" yellow box at the top and will immediately know about the new message. I know this explanation may be a little confusing but please feel free to write me (here or on my talk page if you have any further questions. Also, the Help page is a wonderful place to go! I hope your have a wonderful time here on Wikipedia and happy editing! Cheers! --omtay38 17:55, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Helpme

Were you meaning to ask the questions to the help desk staff, which is what the {{helpme}} tag is for, or to Omtay38?—WAvegetarian(talk) 07:43, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

In answer to your questions above, yes your userpage looks good. You can check out mine by clicking on my signature.—WAvegetarian(talk) 07:45, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks WAvegetarian - I guess I"m just not sure how to actually communicate with other users? - will you read this? Or should I post something on your Discussion Page?

Also, - where do I find out what other things I can put on my User Information Box (whatever it's called). --Kojack0 07:55, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:COYH.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:COYH.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:02, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
