Koinadugu District is the largest district by geographical area in Sierra Leone, and is located in the Northern Province of the country. Its capital and largest city is Kabala. The district has a total area of 12,121 km² and comprises eleven chiefdoms. It has a population of 265,765 (2004 census)

As of the 2004 census, the population of Koinadugu district was 265,758. Koinadugu District is one of the most ethnically diverse districts in Sierra Leone. The ethnic makeup of Koinadugu District put the Temne at 35%, the Limba at 20%, the Mandingo at 15%, the Kuranko at 10% and 20% from other ethnic groups.

Diamond mining is a major economic activity in the district, as well as agricultural production of rice, mango, cacao, and coconut.

Koinadugu District currently has ten Representatives in the Sierra Leonean Parliament, of which nine members were elected to a 5-year term. Below are the district Representatives in Parliament:
