Founded in 1991, Kognitio is headquartered in Bracknell, United Kingdom and has offices in Chicago, Illinois. Kognitio develops WX2. Kognitio merged with Whitecross Systems in August 2005.[1]

WX2 is a full ANSI-SQL standards based analytical RDBMS that serves as a 'virtual' data warehouse appliance for data analytics. No proprietary hardware is involved and the solution provides "comparable performance to the likes of Teradata and Netezza".[1]

WX2 is supported on Linux. Kognitio has announced that WX2 will also be supported on Solaris.[2]
