Koeltztown, Missouri

Koeltztown is an unincorporated community in southern Osage County, Missouri, United States. It is located about fifteen miles southeast of Jefferson City. It is one of the oldest settlements in Osage County. The community was founded in 1858 and named for its first postmaster, August Koeltz. Mr. Koeltz was not Catholic but donated land for a Catholic parish in hopes of encouraging settlers in the area to establishing a town. There were a few raiders that came through during the civil war but no major conflicts. The settlers were primarily of German origin.
