[edit] Bagapsh
Hi! Are you sure 'Bagapsh' is a Laz surname? I had the impression that ps/psh sounds combination is a typically Abkhaz one as there's quite a few place and river names, surnames and other words where it's present. Respectfully, Alæxis¿question? 16:14, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes of course Bağap+şi: Son of Bağap in laz language
- It looks like it's an Abkhaz surname after all. Alæxis¿question? 13:05, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Thank you but I've already seen it in my френдлента. It must be the sign of approaching inevitable downfall of Kokoity regime :))) Alæxis¿question? 18:34, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Georgia in Europe or ASIA
can not you make the intoduction of Georgia little less ambiguous ? we dont need that much information. its confusing people
for example: "Georgia is a Eurasian country in the Caucasus located at the east coast of the Black Sea. It is bordered on the north by Russia, on the south by Turkey and Armenia, and on the east by Azerbaijan. It is a transcontinental country, located at the juncture of Eastern Europe and Western Asia - in other words, located in the transitional, mountainous Caucasus region of Eurasia.[3] ". At the beggining it already mentions that it is in caucasus. and by mentioning that it is in both asia and europe by itself means that it is Eurasia. This i just tooo much I think.,
here is also link to the European Union Website that lists member and non-member European States. I dont know what else is needed.

[edit] Edit Summary
Hi Kober, perhaps you would like to explain your edit summary here. Seeing as the text and the source that you have added compared with what I have removed is completely different I don't see your point. You actually have done that twice in the past little while and the passage was using ICG (I assume erroneously) as a source prior to my edit. Pocopocopocopoco (talk) 04:57, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- So let me get this straight, I'm supposed to magically know that that was supposed to be sourced by a UN security council resolution and not by the ICG? Also, if you recall my previous edit, I did try to fix it. Pocopocopocopoco (talk) 14:51, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] BLPs
By the way you might want to check out Tengiz Kitovani and Zaza Gogava. I've stubbed them because they were BLPs, unsourced, and controversial. The Gogava article read like a resume. Pocopocopocopoco (talk) 04:22, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- I said that you are funny, I never said the casualties of the war were funny. I'll have a look at the BLPs, I haven't seen those articles before. Keep in mind that there is a difference between unsourced vs. controversial and unsourced. That was the situation with Kitovani's BLP and the unsourced allegations that he was on the Russian payroll amongst other things. Pocopocopocopoco (talk) 05:05, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Location of Bedia Cathedral
Dear Kober, hello. This is not about the name of the village. Bedia and Agubedia (or Agu-Bedia) are two different villages now (since early 1920s). Until Soviet era it was one village Bedia in Samurzakan Uchastok (after 1919 - Gali uezd). Then Bedia was divided into 3 villages: Bedia I, Bedia II and Agu-Bedia. You can look it here http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:%D0%90%D0%B1261.jpg РГБ, Всесоюзная перепись населения 1926 года, т. 14, Закавказская СФСР, Москва, 1929. Actually the territory of Agubedia was a historical centre of all Bedia, because the Cathedral is located here (in Abkhaz "Agu" means "heart"). In 1931 uezds was replaced by raions (districts). And according to the new adm-terr division village Agu-Bedia (with 2 other samurzakanian villages Reka and Chkhortoli) was not in the boundaries of Gali district but Ochamchira district. In this villages Abkhaz was spoken as a native language, and thatswhy they were incorporated into Ochamchira district. In 1939 Chkhortoli was returned in Gali district, but Reka and Agu-Bedia stayed in Ochamchira one till the new Abkhazian administrative subdivision was confirmed. Look here http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Galochamch.JPG. Scan of 1989 census. Bedia selsovet in Gali district, Agubedia selsovet in Ochamchira. Bedia I and Bedia II were united in one village Bedia (Bedia selsovet). Now Bedia and Agubedia are both in Tqwarchal district. The Cathedral itself is located in the territory of Agubedia at all :) Efrem Eshba was born in Agubedia just near the Cathedral, and there is a monument dedicated to him in this village, but in the autobiography he claims: "I was born in Bedia, Abkhazia". So in the time he was born it was realy one village, and now agubedians are often call their village simply Bedia, but administratively there are 2 different villages more than 85 years as you could see. Segnor Bugatti (talk) 19:14, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- Agu, as I said, is realy means "heart" in Abkhaz. As for Gulibedia
- 1. It's only Georgian (not Megrelian) form, but as far as I know had never mentioned in documents.
- 2. Megrelian form for Agubedia should be Gurbedia. In Vesconte's map there is one place called Corenbedia, but not Gurbedia. Actually Gurbedia could be a name of Agubedia in the period of Sabediano and Dadian's Mingrelia, because Megrelian was widely spread in this territory at that time, but this is only our guess, because if I'm not mistaken, we could'n find neither Gulibedia nor Gurbedia in documents. Maybe in some medieval Gergian sources, I don't know?
But nowadays Samurzakanian people, both Megrelian and Abkhaz speaking, don't use any other form for this village exept Agubedia (or simply Bedia for all of the historical Bedia territory including Agubedia). Segnor Bugatti (talk) 21:10, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Ossetians/ Owsebi
Dear Kober, the ediot who mentioned that Ossetians are an Iranic people is right. Many Ossetians have Georgian blood and many georgians have Ossetian blood. It is also true that Ossetians are culturally very close to Georgians. However the origins of the Ossetians go back to the ancient Iranic Alans. Their language is an Northeast Iranian language.
However I also agree with you that the word"large" should be dropeed. Not a large minority but just a minority of Ossetians are Sunni Moslems, the rest are Orthodox Christians. They followed the Georgian orthodox Church, but nowadays many in the North might think that they are Russian orthodox. In Any way they are an Orthodox Christian, Caucasian, Culturally Georgian, Iranian speaking people and they are one of ethnic groups of Georgia. Many people think that ossetians in Georgia are only concentrated in the breakaway South Ossetia, but in fact they live all across Northern and central Georgia. It is also remarakable that they were regarded by Georgians the same as Georgianspeaking tribes and clans such as Mingrelians, Svans, Ajars etc... I think also this should be said there. People should realize that not all Ossetians in Georgia are pro-Russian or separatist. Their overwhelming majority are not hostile to Georgians. --Babakexorramdin (talk) 15:49, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Armenia in Georgia country introduction
Hi Kober. I see you edit Georgia related articles often so I decided to ask you something. In georgia introduction page, some time ago I removed Armenia because I dont believe that a Foreign nation should be mentioned in the very INTRODUCTION of the country. there is no need of mentioning "second country to adopt christianity after Armenia." instead we can say that it was the second country to do so without armenia, or at least that is what I think. So what I want to ask you is to remove Armenia if you will ever see it there. I am saying this because someone already put it back and I had to remove it again. I know you are busy but if you will spot something like that, please be sure to do something. I will do the same. It is a country introduction and not an advertisement of something else. I hope what I am saying makes sense.

[edit] Georgia Introduction
Kober, I see you made some monumental changes to the introduction of Georgia(country). I have nothing against it except the fact that all of the references were transfered to another article Geography of Georgia (introduction of which I consider to be very biased). As it could be inferrred from the titles you gave the changes on the history page, the reason why you put word "Eurasian" in the introduction is that you finally wished to end the "Europe or Asia" debate. Although I understand how weary you might be because of the above mentioned debate, I have to be very clear and tell you that this is not the solution and the Department of Statistics Report reference in no ways can replace all the references found there before you made the change. I also strongly recommend puting the NPOV tag in the article as the neutrality of it is hotly disputed just like the Europe article which already has that kind of tag in the appropriate section.
Thank you

[edit] Kartvelian languages
Hi Kober. I see you are editing from Georgia and the fact that you dont see the difference between Kartvelian Languages and South caucasian languages fasciantes me. Kartvelian means it is related to Georgian(such as mengrelian, svan etc,) I am absolutely sure.On the other hand South Caucasus languages include Armenian and Azeri so are you trying to say that they are all group of Kartvelian (Georgian) languages ? What are you talking about. Synonomous ? Absolutely Not. --Orbias (talk) 16:13, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for clarifying the situation. I do not need the additional references but I think the article needs them. The one already provided does not mention "kartvelian" at all. That was the whole issue and that is why I reverted the previous edit by Alexis or whoever he was because he was citing that only reference that indeed provides a valuable information, however, in this particular case I did not find helpful. That was it. --Orbias (talk) 16:43, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

- Listen, pal. The issue has already been discussed ad nauseum and you've been already explained that the term Kartvelian has two meanings. The Dutch language is Germanic, but the Dutch people are not Germans. As for the Mingrelians, they are part of a greater Gerogian ethnos whether you like it or not. I don't know how else to explain you anything. Your hostility towards the word "Kartvelian" deprives you of an ability to look deeper into the question. I'm sorry, but I can't help you. --KoberTalk 13:12, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
