[edit] Mediation case on Legend of Zelda page
Actually, as it turns out, pretty soon after I posted the request for mediation, Delsait offered a compromise that is about the best I expect to get, so there really is no need anymore. If you still want to check it out, the discussion was the third section on the talk page, so, do whatever.KrytenKoro 16:58, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
A while after we reached said compromise, I recieved an e-mail back from the FAQ writer that actually confirmed that the characters in Tingle RPG were not called "The Elf", and he had made that up to help the reader, as I had asked Delsait to verify, and he had ignored, claiming that the FAQ writer couldn't have written anything but incontrovertible truth. Thus, since there was now no more confliction in sources, I re-added "Hylians are an elf-like race of humans", since that was the claim of the only remaining source on the matter, as I explained to Delsait. He has reinstigated calling it vandalism. I know that rechanging that may have antagonized him, but once there was no confliction in sources, I felt it was the only honest thing to do, so I'm afraid that mediation might be needed again, since Delsait is again refusing to accept the validity of the source.KrytenKoro 22:35, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Adminship
Thanks for your offer of nomination. I agree that I'm ready; however, some other users aren't convinced. (See this diff.) I am happy to go for it, but only if you're sure I'm ready to pass RfA. Walton Vivat Regina! 17:24, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- OK then, I accept the nomination. Btw don't forget the page has to have a "2nd nomination" after it, since I have a previous failed RfA that remains in the archives. Again, thanks for your confidence in me. Walton Vivat Regina! 17:46, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- Looks like it might pass - at present it stands at 31/6/3, which is marked as 83% by Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard/RfA Report. But best not to count my chickens before they hatch. Walton Vivat Regina! 16:53, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re. Help me out, please?
Hello Kntrabssi and thank you for contacting me. I took a quick glance at this user's contributions and quickly realized that this is going to require some investigation that I just can't carry out right now because it's past 4:00am where I live and I'm really, really sleepy... Tomorrow I'll be out of town most of the day. If I can find some time in the morning then I'll have a closer look. But if I don't, maybe you should post your complaints on WP:ANI, because I might not return before Sunday. In the mean time, try not to worry about it. Wiki-harassment can be pesky, but seldom perdures. Best regards, Húsönd 03:17, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re. Reversion of my edit
You reverted my edit to Cho Seung-hui using popups. The information you deleted to my edit was disseminated via CNN and an AC interview with two of his roommates. Given the dynamic nature of such information, no sources are readily available, but when I find one, I will add the information again. ----Carthaginienses 03:28, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- Kntrabssi, thanks for the reply! I found the interview transcripts on CNN (http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0704/17/acd.01.html), so I went ahead and reposted the information. --Carthaginienses 15:28, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] My RfA
Hi Kntrabssi and thank you for your support on my recent request for adminship. Unfortunately, the request failed, however I aim to improve the concerns that were brought up and hopefully bring myself up to the standards of admin. Once again, I thank you for your support. --KzTalk• Contribs 12:26, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Housatonic Community College
Just a friendly FYI that a page you recently edited, Housatonic Community College, is a copyvio of [1]. I know you were not involved in the copyvio in any way but the line you removed contained "© HCC" and "...Home | Current Students | Prospective Students | Academics..." which are clues to me that it was a copy-n-paste from the college website because it contained those typical menu/directory headings. Since MartinBot won't let me revert to the first version (it thinks I'm vandalizing), I'll request a speedy deletion shortly so the article can be added back in stub form similar to Gateway Community College. --Georgeryp 07:53, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] My RfA
Hello Kntrabssi, thank you for supporting my RfA!
I was promoted with a final tally of 68/12/0.
Also, please wish a Happy Birthday to Her Majesty the Queen. Vivat Regina!
Thanks again for nominating me! Walton Vivat Regina! 18:31, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Seeking community input re standardizing baseball roster pages
Hi ... I'm leaving you this note because you recently made edits to one of the Major League Baseball roster pages. I've made a proposal for standardizing the format, structure and content of these pages here and would appreciate your input so that we may reach a consensus. Thanks. --Sanfranman59 05:57, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note on my talk page. It would be helpful if you would add a similar note to the baseball project talk page so there's record of your assent. I really appreciate your input. --Sanfranman59 06:04, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] on RfA
I guess the discussion on WT:RFA is not easy to make sense of. On a personal level it has convinced me that perhaps the process is not quite as badly broken as we think and that a slow, albeit tedious, pressure to change the culture on RfA is more important than an overhaul of the process. I suppose the RfA you're referring to is RevRagnarok's. It's kind of tricky because on one hand I find opposition on the basis of userboxes as ludicrous as you do but I did vote neutral on that particular RfA (in all fairness, not because of the userboxes themselves). See, on one hand we have the argument "we're not promoting enough admins, let's lower the bar to 2/3 support" and on the other hand "that's crazy, we must look at the rationale of that opposition: if it's serious enough, we shouldn't promote no matter what" and that last argument often leads to "let's overhaul the process so that it's not a vote but a discussion with the final decision in the hand of bureaucrats". It seems to me that the ideal solution (although it's not easy to implement) is to change the mentality of voters so that really stupid opposition (the infamous: oh no, he's got a userbox saying he loves ketchup, oh no he disagreed with me on AfD and so on) slowly disappears. I've decided I'd be more vigilant in that respect. (check eg the current RfAs) Cheers, Pascal.Tesson 12:39, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Help with league and team article standardization
Hi! I saw you were participating in the roster standarization project (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Baseball#Proposal to standardize rosters) and was wondering if you'd also be interested in helping me with a similar project for leagues and teams. See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Baseball#Request for help! for more information. I haven't gotten any general response, so I'm soliciting individuals! Thanks in advance for your comments! --CPAScott 15:45, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unusual Adoption Request
Hi! Im an English teacher in Toluca Mexico (west of Mexico City). My Advanced B classes will be contributing to Wikipedia as the focus of their English course for Fall 2007. I am looking for people who would like to mentor my students (who will be working in groups) as they do the following assignments: Edit and article (adding a citation), writing a stub with a citation, translating an English language article for Spanish Wikipedia and for the final project, writing a full article for English Wiki (they can expand on the stub mentioned previously). What I would like to do is put a list of "mentors/adopters" on my talk page as a kind of short cut for my students, who have limited time to get things done. The semester begings Aug 6, but the real Wikipedia work wont begin until the beginning of Sept. If you would like to add your name to my list, please go to my talk page and add it there, perhaps with a short introduction, if you like.
Thank you!

WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter Dear Kntrabssi! You are receiving this newsletter because you have signed up as a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey. The purpose of this newsletter is to update on the goings on of the project, as there have been major changes, and a lot of new recognized content in the past few weeks. Article Improvement By Maxim Upon some discussion on the WikiProject talk page, the Article Improvement Drive page was revamped by Krm500 and Maxim. It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status. edit
Diacritics By Maxim In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt. edit
Task forces By Maxim This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES. This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock. edit

[edit] Adopt Me
I have +1000 edits on Wikipedia, and would not exactly call myself "inexperienced", but I would still like to be adopted. There's a bunch of stuff I've yet to know (and would like to learn), such as deleting images and pages swiftly, all about templates, reverts, etc. I think I'd like to become an admin someday, but I'm far from qualified as of now. Thanks! --MosheA 00:54, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] re Clever waste of time
Hey there. In reviewing my deletion, the only possible explanation that I could come up with for that edit summary is that I thought someone was making a joke--redirecting "clever waste of time" to "online puzzle" as a way of saying puzzles are a waste of time--and did not check to see what the true intentions behind the article were (people redirect idiot to George W. Bush, etc. all the time). In the interim, I've decided to undelete the page with my humblest apologies. Thanks for pointing it out to me. -Mysekurity 21:28, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Did You Know? By Maxim
...that Wally Tatomir, head equipment manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, holds four patents on ice hockey-related equipment?
...that ice hockey player Mark Major attained 355 penalty minutes during the 1997-98 AHL season for the Portland Pirates, where he averaged 4.5 penalty minutes a game and still holds the club record?
...that Garth Butcher was a member of Canada's first-ever gold medal team at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships before becoming a pest and setting team records for penalty minutes in the National Hockey League?
..that the AMP NHL Winter Classic is scheduled to be the first regular-season outdoor National Hockey League game in the United States? edit
Featured Topic Drive By Maxim Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:
Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion. |

WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter Dear Kntrabssi! Since the last newsletter sent out in October, there have been many new changes. Task forces By Maxim There was a new taskforce created within the WikiProject to deal with topics related to the Boston Bruins. It was originally founded as a separate WikiProject, but was quickly turned into a taskforce within WikiProject Ice Hockey. The list of participants is located here. Located at WP:BRUINS, the taskforce's goals are to make Boston Bruins and Bobby Orr featured articles. Good luck! edit
New Administrators By Maxim
A previously admin-only feature has been made available for all users. The rollback feature allows a user to quickly revert vandalism with one click. If you wish to have rollback, contact an active admin or post a request to WP:RFR. edit
Featured Topic Drive By Maxim The original featured topic drive, initiated by Scorpion0422, has concluded succesfully. National Hockey League awards is now a featured topic, with 24 articles in total. Of them, 20 are featured lists, one is a featured article, and the other three are trophy articles that were too short to become featured lists. Eight users signed up to help out, shown here. The next Featured Topic hasn't been decided upon, and the ideas and organization for it fell apart. If you have any ideas, don't hesitate to share them at WT:HOCKEY. edit

[edit] Mediation
Sorry for the dely in response; I've been on an unofficial wikibreak over the past month. The opposing parties are claiming that the sign which states that non-muslims are banned from entering Mecca is not an example of discrimination, or that it is somehow a "non-notable" example. I believe they are wrong, because it is a very obvious example of discrimination, the picture is notable, and there are more than enough sources for that already presented.
