KNTU (88.1 FM) is the campus radio station of the University of North Texas which was formerly known as North Texas State University at Denton, Texas. The signal of the station covers much of the Dallas and Fort Worth Metroplex of North Texas with a format of news and primarily Jazz music. Most of the staff consists of Radio, Television, and Film students.

In addition to playing jazz, KNTU hosts a number of other musical genres and programming including:

  • La Pura Onda: Tejano music
  • The North Texas Jukebox: A request show that attempts to cover any and all genres. Previous hosts include: Zach Mayo
  • Global Mix: Music from all over the world

Former D-J's: Woody Rosen, Justin Garrison, Matt Smith, Genevieve Croft, Drew Jacoy, Zach Mayo

Many of the former DJ's have moved onto bigger radio stations in the Dallas/Fort Worth market. Most notably, Genevieve Croft (DJ, producer/host of the Jazz Minute) has moved onto KLUV 98.7, and Michael Westbrook (Former sports director) at KRLD 1080.

In addition, KNTU produces a weeknight newscast, The Late Edition,which was recognized as "The Best Student Newscast in the Nation" and simulcasts WFAA's News 8 at Six (weekdays).

While there may have been campus limited broadcasts (Carrier current or closed circuit feeds) calling themselves KNER, the on the air call sign was always KNTU. KNER was in use in east Dallas by a non comm owned by BucKNER Baptist Benevolences.
