Knoesis

Kno.e.sis is a center focusing on realizing a knowledge society that utilizes semantics and services as key enablers. The center is located in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the Wright State University. Established as an outgrowth of the Wright Center for Innovation in Advanced Data Management and Analysis, funded through Ohio's Third Frontier program, it is recognized as one of the leading research groups worldwide in the emerging areas of Semantic Web and Services Science 12.

The center was founded in January 2007, incorporating one faculty and eleven PhD students previously working at the LSDIS Laboratory at the University of Georgia. Kno.e.sis faculty members bring extensive expertise in database management (including integration, mining, and visualization), AI, knowledge representation, and bioinformatics. Key areas of collaboration and application today include health care, life sciences, and sensor data.

Its mission of research and education complements daytaOhio's objective to leverage innovation in data-intensive technologies for economic expansion.
