Knockin mouse

A knockin mouse is a genetically engineered mouse in which genetic information is inserted into a particular locus in the genome. This is in contrast to a knockout mouse in which genetic information is removed from a particular locus, and a traditional transgenic mouse, in which genetic information is inserted, but randomly and not in a targeted fashion.
