[edit] DYK

Updated DYK query On 4 November 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article harpoon reaction, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

[edit] Collision theory

Nice job on adding material to the collision theory page. Later: --Sadi Carnot 18:35, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: energy profile image

Hi there, I've created a new version of Image:Activation2.svg, and posted it on Talk:Enzyme. Any thoughts? Thanks, Fvasconcellos 19:05, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, and thanks for the input. Fvasconcellos 20:27, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Acids with Data Pages?

(I'm not a chemist so I am probably not using the correct terminology. Sorry.)

I need a second opinion on something. Some acids have data pages which include data for their constituent compound. Like this:

Hydrochloric acid (data page) note the properties that gaseous hydrochloric acid has!

Isn't that bad? Shouldn't that data be deleted and moved to the hydrogen chloride (data page)? And if so, should an acid even have a data page?

Again, I'm not really a chemist, so if this is a really stupid question, please let me know.

[edit] Surface tension

Greetings. I am trying to shape up the surface tension article so that it can get a GA rating. Please look at the bottom of the talk page for that article to see what the remaining issues are. As the author of the thermodynamics section, I was hoping you could provide references for the Gibbs free energy (gamma = partial of G with respect to A), entropy per unit area, and enthalpy per unit area. Although I have no trouble deriving these from my own knowledge of thermo, doing so is in the article is not appropriate. These equations need references to a text or journal. Also needed are references for Eötvös and Guggenheim-Katayama. Karl Hahn (T) (C) 04:50, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Good to hear from you again. I found references for all the equations except the entropy per unit area equation. I started with my old pchem text and found much of the stuff in the thermo section. But I there were still some that weren't in there. Then I remembered that 30 years ago when I interned for two summers at an industrial chem lab, I grabbed up a stack of books that were in a throw-away pile, and I recalled there was one on surfaces. I checked my bookcase, and sure enough -- it was still there. Anyway, if you can find a ref for the entropy equation, please enter it. I am still going to be doing a little more rework on the article -- rewriting the lead and adding an intro paragraph to the section on measurement. The re-review is scheduled for this weekend.
