Knights of the Cross is an album by German heavy metal band Grave Digger released in 1998. It is a concept album about the rise and fall of the legendary Knights Templar and the early crusades.

  • This album is a concept album about the Crusades.
  • "Knights of the Cross" deals with the crusaders and his principles.
  • "Monks of War" is about the order of the "priests" that fought in the crusades.
  • "Fanatic Assassins" is about the King Saladin's army, their suicidal attacks and their beliefs.
  • "Lionheart" is about the history of Richard I, The Lionheart. Famous king of the England at the Crusades' time.
  • "The keeper of the Holy Grail" deals with the mysteries surrounding the Holy Grail.
  • "Inquisition" is about the Inquisition, the order that killed "witches" and "unbelievers".
  • "Baphomet" is about the vision of the Templars and the accusation of heresy by the Inquisition.
  • "Over the Sea" is about the flight of the Templars over the sea, to escape the death.
  • "The Curse of Jacques" tells the history of Jacques DeMolay, who cursed Pope and King after the assassination of his entire family. He burned until death by the Inquisition, accused of heresy.
  • "The Battle of Bannockburn" is the battle that brought freedom to Scotland.
