Knight Online is an MMORPG developed by MGame Corporation. Currently there are many different companies that host this game by geographic region. Some are Free to Play while others are Pay to Play. Three major updates have been released for Knight Online. In September 2005, a major update known as Knight Empire was released that changed a few maps, added new item upgrading systems, and introduced the King system into the game. On or about August 3, 2006 a new expansion called The Reign of the Fire Drake was released. The update added several new maps, quests, monsters, and bosses; changed the user interface, introduced the Post-Office system and Chaotic Generator, and increased the maximum level cap to 80. The most recent expansion for the game was released in late 2007 as: "Moradon: The Resurrection". This expansion added a couple of new things to the starter city, Moradon (See the index for more information). The city was totally modified and the hunting area for killing monsters was modified, too.

[edit] Servers
Generally, all the worlds are the most heavily populated and therefore impossible to enter for Free2Play players. This has became a lot bigger problem with the removal of 3rd server.(Usko is "Game is free to play, but it's not free to login"). Generally the Pathos and Logos servers are a bit less populated than the others. Nearly all of the people who play Knight Online are Turkish, which is why the game is crowded around their afternoon/evening. Players are allowed to have up to three characters on each server, but all of the players on the server must be from the same race. To have one character that is human and one character that is orc, a user would have to make one of them on a different server. Each world is further divided into two sub-servers (ex. Ares1, Ares2). Players can use a character from a certain world on any of that world's servers, however it is not possible to transfer characters/items/money between worlds. Some zones/events including War, Delos, the Abyss, and Ardream can only be accessed from server one in each world, which typically has the most users logged in at any given time.
However, the recent implementation of the new Carnac-West server allowed players from North America, parts of Europe, Australia, and a few other countries to have an isolated access to this server. By preventing players with IPs from other countries, the server population of Carnac-West was greatly reduced, drastically eliminating the login issues for players of the permitted geologic regions.
[edit] Jobs (Character Classes)
Knight Online has four character classes for available both nations: Warrior, Rogue, Mage, and Priest. Each class has a basic skill set, three main skill sets (Level 10 and up), and one master skill set (Level 60 and up).
Class | Description | Skill Sets | Master Titles |
---|---|---|---|
Warrior | Melee fighter. High amount of health. Good defense (Main tanker in game) | Attack, Defense, Berserker | Berserker Hero(Karus), Blade Master(El Morad) |
Rogue | Variable. Learns healing, curing, invisibility, and speed skills. May use ranged attacks or melee. | Archer, Assassin, Explorer | Kasar Hood(El Morad),Shadow Vain(Karus) |
Mage | Support character with ranged magical attacks, able to inflict continuous damage, slow down enemies, or stun enemies. | Flame, Glacier, Lightning | Elemental Lord (Karus), Arch Mage (El Morad) |
Priest | Main support character. Used to increase statistics such as HP, heal party members, and decrease statistics of enemies. | Healing, Aura, Holy Spirit | Shadow Knight (Karus), Paladin (El Morad) |
[edit] Armor Classes
Tier 1: Also known as "Paper". The paper build sacrifices armor defense for higher attack. A character focuses its stat point distribution so that only its attack goes up. Later in the game, a paper character would try to obtain other items to increase defense such as unique jewelry. Only mages and battle priests use this build as rogues and warriors use plate because they use plate for their "paper" builds.
Tier 2: (Half-Plate) A very uncommon build. The only reason that it would be used is because half-plate is cheaper to upgrade (compared to Plate). With a higher + item you can get more of the stat you want to do more damage (dexterity for rogue and strength for warrior).
Tier 3: (Plate) Common for lower level rogues and warriors. It is like the paper build for mages and priests but instead for warrior and rogue classes. As you grow to a higher it will be seen less and less.
Tier 4: Known as "Full Plate." This is a popular aim amongst high-level paper characters. Because of the maximum stat distribution cap of 255, paper characters can begin to focus on secondary stats to increase armor capability. Full Plate is also great because of its availability to obtain and relatively low cost.
Tier 5 and Tier 6: (Chitin and Chitin Shell) These armors give the most defensive ability. The difference is that Chitin Shell is reserved for Master characters, and it also provides more defense.
[edit] Weapons
A player can use a variety of weapons, not all weapons are for set classes. Any character can use almost any weapon, as long as they have the required stats. Using weapons that don't require class stats or skills is almost useless, as they do not confer any bonuses. The only exceptions for the most part are bows, which are only available to rogues, and staffs for mages.
The game also includes several unique weapons, which drop only from bosses. Unique weapons are highly sought after, as they offer bonuses to other stats.
At level 70, there is a quest available in Eslant to get a personal weapon or shield depending on the player's class. The weapon's name is personalized with the player's name. However, this is one of the hardest quests on the whole game of KOL.
[edit] Clans
A clan is a club of users (generally friends) that group together; most players prefer to have friends as clan members, but the larger and more powerful clans will only admit strong characters. The benefits of being in a clan include: a separate chat channel for clan members whose text appears in green on the main chat window, the ability to party with your clan members no matter what levels they are, the ability to party a clanmate without being close enough to manually select them, and finally the ability to get capes. Capes cost a large amount of money and require 144,000 Nation Points (referred to as "NP") per clan, which are gained by killing users of the opposite nationality (+50 NP). Some large bosses also reward you with a few nation points if you manage to find and defeat them (+10-50 NP).
Nation Points can also be lost if a member of the opposing nation manages to kill you (-50 NP). When an individual player's Nation Points come to 0 they have to earn all the points again. Players also lose Experience Points when they die whether they are in a clan or not (and yes if you lose enough you can actually lose levels. A clan's Nation Points are made up of the total Nation Points of each of its members. This determines your clan ranking (V being the lowest and I being the best). At higher ranks, more events become available to you and your clan.
Ranking | National Points Required | Bonus |
---|---|---|
V (Lowest) | 0 - 71,999 | None (grade 5, Humans have blue armband, orcs have purple) |
IV | 72,000 - 143,999 | Ability to participate in Castle Siege War (grade 4 , humans have green armband, orcs have blue) |
III | 144,000 - 359,999 | Ability to attempt the Knights quest to obtain a cape (grade 3, Humans have dull bronze armband ( with more intricate detail), Orcs have a gray one with a different design) |
II | 360,000 - 719,999 | Ability to have Knight Symbol on cape (grade 2, Dull Golden armband) |
I (best) | 720,000+ | All of the above. (grade 1, Burnished Gold armband, slight red tint) |
5 Best Clans | 5 clans with highest total NP | Top 5 Clans in any particular server have Grade I clan armbands (in new servers top 5 clans may be under grade 1), with the added detail of flames running along the design, along with a flame.

The New Clan Point Contribution System This new expansion allows Clan Leaders to have more control over their clan. Clan members also have a chance to contribute more and take more responsibility in the clan. There are two types of Clan Point contribution systems that can be chosen by the Clan Leader. The first is manual contribution where a set contribution amount can be determined by the player. The second is automatic contribution which pulls a percentage of National Point gain from each member of the clan to contribute to their Clan Points. Clan Points are used to determine Clan Rank and Level. Clan Points can also be used to purchase capes for the clan. If a player quits a clan, the clan will lose the total amount that the member has contributed. The member will only get a 30% refund of their total contribution as well.
[edit] Rebirth System
Since the release of The Reign of the Fire Drake, a new system of upgrading was implemented. The Rebirth System gives players a new upgrading option when it comes to armor and weapons. This system of upgrading allows better probabilities when upgrading. However, only certain items may undergo Rebirthing:
- High class items that are +7 or above that were high class grade at +1.
- Unique items that are +7 or above.
When Rebirthing a normal or unique item, its upgrade level will change:
- Existing +7 item -> Rebirth +1 item
- Existing +8 item -> Rebirth +5 item
- Existing +9 item -> Rebirth +11 item
- Existing +10 item -> Rebirth +21 item
[edit] Parties
As in most MMORPGs, Knight Online enables players to group together and complete objectives. Parties in Knight Online range between two to eight players. The characters must be in a certain level range. For most, partying is a necessity for leveling up and player killing. It is the easiest and fastest way to get ahead in the game, especially since the servers are so crowded. Without a party, leveling will be a painfully slow and grueling process.
[edit] Bosses
There are many bosses in the game that drop unique items and items needed for Master Skills. The highest of these monsters being the Felankor(Added when the expansion "Reign of Fire Drake" came out). This boss can be found in the dragon cave which can be accessed by getting dragon pearls from the Servants of Isiloon. They spawn in every zone, excluding delos, and special events like wars etc. All bosses drop unique items, different for every boss, and all have a chance to drop high class items (other than maybe kekurikekukaka).
[edit] Zones
There are a few maps in which players of Knight Online may find themselves in, each with their own pros and cons. Players travel between them using a set of Warp gates for a price. The price of traveling with the gates varies depending on where you travel to.
[edit] Moradon City
Home of the Arena, Forgotten Temple (Has been recently re-enabled) , and a new war system called Border Defence Wars, this is the only zone where both El Morad and Karus cannot attack each (unless in an arena) other and for this reason is the main merchant hub in the game. It is also where all new players start out and offers many low level quests. The wasteland surrounding Moradon is filled with low level creatures ideal for new players.
- Map of Moradon(this map may be different from the current version of moradon because of the expansion Moradon: The Resurrection)
[edit] Karus / El Morad
The largest zones of the game, each nation holds many creatures which make good hunting for mid to high level characters. Only members of the appropriate nation can enter their land so the majority of the gameplay in Karus/El Morad focuses on the player versus the environment. However, after a war, the victorious nation is able to invade the opposing nation for one hour and members of both nations can encounter each other on these maps and be rewarded Nation Points for killing opposing players.
lll
[edit] Ronark Land
Ronark land is almost identical to the old Colony Zone, but the new expansion has added many new monsters, and implemented the Bifrost feature. In this zone, bosses only spawn in the bowl, which is located in the center of the map. Ronark land, also has a few new quests in which the players can earn large amounts of experience points if completed. It is mainly a player vs player zone.
[edit] Ardream
Ardream is a lower level version of Ronark Land, available for anybody between level 30-59.
Unlike Ronark land, bosses in Ardream can spawn everywhere. This zone has different monsters than Ronark because of the level of its players. (Few exceptions, ie. Fag Mares which can also be found in Eslant)
There are a variety of bosses that provide special items that can be sold or used throughout the game. Some of these bosses include Atross and Riote.
In areas such as Ardream and Ronark a player can lose half of the money he/she is carrying after being killed by another player. ( Note: Since the new Moradon expansion, players killed by a player of the opposing nation no longer lose coins, just 25 National Points.(NOTE TO THIS NOTE: this has been corrected. Now players lose NP and 1/2 of carried coin).
(Note: Magic Power Bonus on mages armor doesn't work in PvP area's ( i.e: Ronark Land, War, etc))
[edit] Lunar Valley
The landmass that connects the two nations. During the Lunar Gate wars members of each nation gather here for battle, after which the winning nation can "invade" the losing nation's homeland.
[edit] Abyss
The only dungeon in the game (because of the Moradon: The Resurrection there is a second dungeon available to anyone lvl 70+). It is located in Delos, at the heart of the castle. It is made up of 20 levels going down, each level being a large circular chamber inhabited by progressively stronger monsters. Many times you can't move on to the next floor of the abyss until you find a key by killing the monsters within the floor you are on. Within the abyss is a "secret" gate into the hell abyss with even stronger monsters. Likewise, you'll need the key to the hell abyss to find this entrance.
The Abyss is a PvP area where humans and orcs can kill each other. Unlike the Colony Zone, Invasions, or Wars you do not lose or gain money or NP for killing another player. For this reason there is an uneasy truce between orcs and humans, which sometimes break out into hostilities without warning out of spite (usually from taking each others kills). In the Abyss, all the monsters (except the Goblins) drop an item called the Abyss gem, these gems can be traded to an NPC in Moradon for the chance of a rare item, making their prices reasonably high. This isn't all that attracts players to brave the dangers of the Abyss. Many players go to the abyss for +9 accessories, transformation scrolls, Abyss health potions, and other more expensive items dropped by the monsters there.
With the Reign of the Fire Drake patch, a final floor with one of the newest bosses, Felankor, was added. Felankor is the dragon you often see on the Knight Online homepage. He is one of the hardest monsters to kill and drops a Ring Of Felankor and other unique items.
[edit] Events
Scheduled events happen on a regular basis for each server. These are one of the main focal points of Knight Online.
[edit] Forgotten Temple 1 & 2
Open for characters of both nations who are Level 60 or above (1) or Level 46-59 (2). This event pits the first 32 to enter the event against waves of monsters. Those who remain standing at the end, if any, receive a treasure chest they can then trade in for powerful unique items. Players can form parties with members of opposing nations during Forgotten Temple Events.
[edit] Lunar War & Dark Lunar War
Another focal point of the game. Players can choose to participate in the event by entering the lunar valley during war time. The first 200 (in Lunar war) or 120 (in Dark Lunar) players from each side will decide the fate of the battle in the Lunar Valley where they must try to slay the Keeper of the opposing team. Among all the players in the war, 5 of the clan leader which have most National Points count in their clan will transform into commander which ride a horse and get additional benefits.
The winning side may then invade the opposing nation, regardless of participation in the war. Each invasion lasts 1 hour, after which the invaders are recalled back to their homeland. During this hour, the victorious nation invaders try to drive their way as deep as possible into enemy territory, with the aim of killing players from the opposite nation to gain National Points. Each of the commanders will received 300 National Points when they won the war. The defeated nation attempts to repel the invaders.
[edit] Castle Siege War
The only clan versus clan event. It occurs within the Delos zone. Only clans ranked III or better can participate. The clan that manages to hold the castle by defending an artifact inside for the longest period during the event will be given control of the Delos castle, and their customized flag will fly above it until the next castle siege war in which they must defend their hold.
The clan that holds the castle will set the tax rate for all moradon and delos zone and will receive all collected funds. However, setting the tax rate too high will make it difficult to get allies to defend the castle at the next castle siege.
Furthermore, the clan that holds the castle controls the gate through which people must pass in order to get to the Abyss dungeon. By simply closing the gate to non-allies they can inflate the price of the abyss gems which they can then sell for increased prices.
[edit] Juraid Mountain
Juraid Mountain is a high level (70-80) PvP event where the objective is to fight through 3 separate rooms to reach the center room where the Boss must be defeated. The 2 nations will start at opposite ends of the map and work their way to the middle. Party maybe facing monsters in each room which could be a herds of Minotaur or Leech King or Lillime or Cockatrice or other. After killing one of the said monster, a gem will be dropped. Intermission monsters like troll warriors, doom soldier or apostles will appear before you can continue to fight the main monster. You have option to skip the monster and go directly to the Boss (Deva Bird) (especially for weak party or no priest). Winning is achieved if you have killed the boss or the most kills. The winning nation in this event will obtain precious gems which can be turned in to the Chaotic Generator for some very rare unique items! Jurad mountain will last for 50 minutes the most.
[edit] Border Defense Wars
For level 60-69. Entrees of both nations to the event are pitted in 8 vs. 8 parties to compete for massive amounts of experience and a Red Treasure Chest. The goal to winning is to destroy the monument of the opposing nation. If that is not done in thirty minutes, the party with more kills wins.
Only even numbers from each nation may participate, that is, if there are 100 Karus and 150 El Morad, only 100 El Morad will enter. Parties are formed by character class with two Rogues, two Priests, two Mages, and two Warriors in each party. If a certain class is missing in a party, another class will randomly take its place.
[edit] Special Events
Boss Events In addition to regularly scheduled events, Game Masters may also wish to unleash havoc among PVP and national zones. Boss events are a reward to devoted players of Knight Online, giving high amounts of spending money and rare items. Usually the top clans would try to dominate the boss events and make the most of them.
Experience and Drop Rate Events The elected King and/or GM may allot time for an increase in experience and money/items when monsters are killed.
Holiday Events that celebrated the holiday come every now and then. Such holidays that have been celebrated are Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, Children's Day, and Halloween.
[edit] Reign of the Fire Drake
The Reign of the Fire Drake is the third expansion for Knight Online, released around the 3rd of August, 2006. These are some new features that were implemented with the Reign of the Fire Drake expansion.

[edit] The Post Office
The post office is a new feature that will allow players to send letters to other players so they can receive messages once they log on. It also allows in-game items and money to be mailed between players, preventing the hassle of finding the character to trade.
1. Items may be attached to mail and sent through the Post Office that can be reached through a button the regardless of whether or not the recipient player is on the sender's friend list.
3. Mail will be saved for 7 days. If mail remains unchecked for the 7 day period, the mail will be returned to the sender. If the returned mail is unchecked in the next 7days, it will be permanently erased.
4. You can receive/hold a maximum of 10 letters. For Premium Users, the maximum is increased to 20 letters.
5. If the player’s mailbox is full, the player cannot receive any new additional mail. Mail sent while the mailbox is full will be saved at the post office. When mail is read, and the mailbox is no longer full, the post office will send the other pending mail. In this case, the time the mail spent in the post office is also included in the 7 day period.
6. Dead Characters cannot receive mail.
- A bug allowed players to send mail to themselves simply by adding a space to the end of their name. This allowed massive increases in the number of potions one character could have in Player Killing*
