Viscosity of Copper slags

Viscosity-composition Relationship

For most typical slags the content of several minor components(Al2o3 , Mgo , Zno) Has been varied , and their influence on the slag viscosity has been investigated. Al2o3 markedly increases viscosity beyond 7% , Zno is the best basic reagent to lower viscosity and 5% Mgo gives the highest viscosity.

Viscosity-composition Relationship

Several authors have claimed that some indices of viscosity exist that lead to fairly simple relationships with chemical compositions at constant temperature. Winterhager and Kammel[1] proposed the equations

Viscosity = a/(Kz-b) (1)

a and b are constants; equation valid when Kz is of low value, and

Viscosity = c-d. Kz (2)

c and d are constants; equation valid when Kz is of high value . viscosity module' Kz is written:

Kz = [ %Feo+%Cao+%Mgo+%Zno+%Pbo]/ [%Sio2+%Al2o3] (3)

Higgins and jones[2] correlated viscosity with a "modified viscosity ratio" ,MVR , which we adapted as follows:

MVR ={ 056[Al+3]+1.40[Si+4]}/ {0.44[Fe+2] +0.36[Ca+2] +0.46[Mg+2] +0.44[Zn+2] +0.29[Pb+2]} (4)

In neither case was it possible to obtain a satisfactory correlation between the indices and viscosity of the slags. The trends of the plots were correct , but the dispersion of the values was very high , particularly at low temperatures.

[edit] Article creations

Hi. I note you've created a number of new articles, such as Calculations on Scrap addition during copper blowing. May I suggest reading some help files, such as Help:Contents/Editing_Wikipedia and Wikipedia:Your first article before creating articles, to learn the markup and presentation standards that Wikipedia has? If you have any questions, please feel free to ask at the help desk, or on my own talk page. Good luck, and happy editing! Lankiveil (speak to me) 11:49, 13 March 2008 (UTC).

I assume that by blanking the article that you created you wanted the page deleted. I have tagged the page as such. LittleOldMe (talk) 10:38, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
