KLWB is the CW network television affiliate in the Lafayette, Louisiana area of the United States. Available only to local cable subscribers since 1999, KLWB signed on as a full-power broadcast outlet on Monday, April 3, 2006.
KLWB has joined The CW. (KLAF-LP is the sister station of Fox affiliate KADN and thus was recently announced as a My Network TV station.) The station was recently added by DirecTV to serve as the CW affiliate in the Lafayette market local channels lineup. Previously, DirecTV used WB affiliates from Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Baltimore, MD, for Lafayette. It is also being added by Dish Network at this time.
[edit] Digital television
Because it was granted an original construction permit after the FCC finalized the DTV allotment plan on April 21, 1997,[1] the station did not receive a companion channel for a digital television station. Instead, on or before February 17, 2009, which is the end of the digital TV conversion period for full-service stations, KLWB will be required to turn off its analog signal and turn on its digital signal (called a "flash-cut").
