[edit] History

There are traces of human existence in this area from neolithic times. In 1391, settlement named Sent Kiraj (Sveti Kraj) was mentioned at this location. Settlement was first mentioned under name Krnjaja in 1601. During Ottoman rule (16th-17th century), Krnjaja was populated by ethnic Serbs. During Habsburg rule, ethnic Germans settled in the village as well and they became a largest ethnic group in the settlement. After World War II, Germans left from the village as a consequence of war events, while Serbs from Croatia (Lika, Gorski Kotar, Žumberak, and Kordun) settled in the village instead of them. Current name of the village, Kljajićevo, was introduced in 1949 and derived from Miloš Kljajić, a people's hero, who was born in Kordun and was killed on Petrova Gora in 1943.
