Together with GuillaumeTell compiling The opera corpus, a list of more than 1,900 works by over 500 composers. This is a road map for the development of opera coverage. We now have articles on all the composers listed and we are gradually writing up the opera title entries.

I've had a connection with publishing, including print encyclopedias - as an editor, graphics editor, production manager. writer and photographer - for many years. I've been using and publishing on the internet, including websites, blogs etc. since the early 1990s.

My interest in opera goes back to my childhood. When I was living in Tokyo I had the opportunity of working for many of the world's leading opera companies when they visited Japan. That lead to writing reviews and then starting an international opera magazine website.

Half of my life I've been in Asia (Hong Kong, China and Japan) and half in Britain (Scotland and England). I speak Chinese and Japanese.

(I'm also a professional archaeologist - with several years field experience in China, Japan and Britain - but I'm not writing about archaeology here! Opera is contentious enough as it is!)

According to the 23 May List of Wikipedians by number of edits, I'm the 499th most prolific editor, though in terms of articles created I fall lower!
