Kelly Going (born August 21, 1973 in Rhinebeck, New York) is an American author most widely known for her Michael L. Printz Award Honor winning Young Adult novel Fat Kid Rules the World.

KL Going, real name Kelly Louise Going, has been writing novels since high school. She has since published two novels under the category of young adult literature and one for middle grade readers age 8 - 12 with a second published in October 2007.

She also has a short story as part of the anthology Rush Hour volume 3. Plus a story in the upcoming anthology Full House edited by Pete Hautman.

[edit] Young Adult fiction

Fat Kid Rules the World (2003) tells the story of a 296 pound teenager who is befriended by local guitar legend Curt MacCrae. Curt insists they form a band and Troy be their drummer, only Troy doesn't know how to play the drums.

Saint Iggy (2006) is the story of Iggy Corso who is kicked out of school for allegedly threatening a teacher. He finds himself seeking to do something good in order to change other's minds about him.

The Liberation of Gabriel King (2005) Is a novel aimed at readers primarily ages 8 - 12. It is a story about Gabriel King and the summer he and his best friend Frita Wilson set out to conquer their fears.

The Garden of Eve (2007) This novel is scheduled for publication October 1, 2007.

[edit] Movie adaptation

In 2004, the rights to Fat Kid Rules the World were sold to Matthew Lillard's production company Bangarang Films. Since then he has been seeking funding for filming in the tradition of independent film. As of May 2007, the movie is still in the stage of seeking funding.
