[edit] Career

In her career Zakopalová has reached eight singles finals and won two, in 2005 on the grass of Rosmalen (Netherlands) and in September of that year on the hard courts of Portorož (Slovenia).

In January 2006 she played a comeback player Martina Hingis, at the WTA Tournament in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, whom she lost to in the second round of the tournament.

Zakopalová was seeded No.29 at the 2006 Australian Open tennis tournament but lost in the first round to Ekaterina Bychkova of Russia. Klara has not had a successful year in singles or doubles, with over ten first-round losses in singles and not a single victory in doubles. Many people are confused as to why she has yet to regain the form that took her to no. 27 in the world in March of 2006. However Zakopalova started 2008 very well and she has reached the final of the inaugural Cachantun Cup in Chile. She played the top seed Flavia Pennetta and was forced to retire from this hard fought match due to a nasty ankle sprain and lost 6–4, 5–4. It was only the first time Klara had retired from a match since February of 2003, when she retired in an ITF event to Mara Santangelo. This injury also forced Klara to withdraw from the next tournament in Bogota, a tournament where she was a quarterfinalist at in 2007.

[edit] Personal

On 6th June 2006, Klara married Czech soccer player, Jan Zakopal. They are a happily married couple.
