The station went on the air as KCRM on 1982-06-01. on 1993-12-27, the station changed its call sign to KHLR, on 2001-04-09 to KXCS, on 2007-03-29 to the current KJXJ,[2] KXCS has been previously branded as "1039 XCS, Everything That Rocks" and "Aggieland's New Rock Alternative, 103.9 The X"
