Kjell Kristian Rike (July 12, 1944 – May 19, 2008) was a Norwegian sports commentator, originally from Byglandsfjord. He commented biathlon for NRK from 1977, and cross-country skiing from 1985.[1]
He has commented from several football world championships, and on golf, cycling, athletics, shooting, harness racing and alpine skiing.
Rike was member of the original staff at the TV series "Norge Rundt" in 1976, and is credited for having suggested the signature tune for the program, "Norsk dans nr. 2" by Edvard Grieg.[2]
He was a former active sport shooter, and Norwegian champion from 1974.[1]
He died on May 19th, 2008, about a month after he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. He married his long time partner, Marit Rosendahl, just a few days after being diagnosed.[3]
