Kjartan Henry Finnbogason (born July 9, 1986 in Reykjavík, Iceland) is a footballer who plays for Celtic F.C. but is out on loan to Åtvidabergs FF.

[edit] Club career

Finnbogason was loaned to Queen's Park in the 05/06 season. He failed to appear for The Queen's in the tail end of the 05/06 season for Queen's Park due to a broken foot and has now returned to Celtic Park. It was widely reported in Scottish tabloids that Finnbogason was expressing his unhappyness at the way he was being treated at Celtic Park. Sources claimed he was disenchanted with the lack of first team opportunities given to him by Gordon Strachan and that he felt he was more than capable of being a proficient first team finisher for the club. Celtic were initially going to offer him a contract but due to notable disagreements Finnbogason handed in a transfer request.

He publicly made it clear he would like to join the Premiership but the closest a few trial offers from the english league. Finnbogason accepted a trial offer from Bristol City at the start of the 2007-08 Season and went on the clubs Latvian tour against Skonto FC and FK Žalgiris Vilnius but did not impress and was released after the tour.[1] He then went on trial to IFK Göteborg from Sweden but failed to make a big impression.
