Talk:Kiting (MMORPG term)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
As of 2/17/2005, a google for "kiting" returns primarily references to the sport and the act of check kiting (which is normally just called "kiting" in banking circles). I propose that this page be moved to Kiting (MMORPG term) and this page be made into a disambiguation. --DDG 19:21, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. Also, do you mean 2/17/2006? ;-) --Mrwojo 03:43, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

- I should just stick to tilde-dating... --DDG 16:53, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] KITing = Killing In Transit?
I always learnt that kiting came from the acronym KIT, for Killing In Transit. This seems more likely to me than the rather obscure reference of "flying a kite", and googling "killing in transit" will produce a variety of independent references. Does anyone have a problem with me editing the section referring to the etymology of this term? --Robin S 00:29, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Inaccurate Video
I'd like to comment on the Kazzak paragraph... The video provided is a fake. No NPC would walk around Stormwind in that pattern, i.e. standing at the entrance to the Stormwind Keep and spamming that spell. Another thing is that you can't see ghosts unless they're in your party... OR, if you're playing in a private server... Maybe you could see ghosts back then? I doubt Blizzard pre-defined a path for Lord Kazzak to walk in Stormwind. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this. Darkren91 15:15, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Kiting
The posted definition is close, but the infered MMORPG meaning is to pull and lead a monster to the destination of your choosing, using offensive ranged damage to aggravate it into following you. The visualization is that the player is pulling it like a kite on a string.
As far as the Kazzak video, I doubt if its a fake. The demon is supposed to wander around its environment and kill players. This is what it is doing. Blizzard never intended it to enter Stormwind, so this is just an example of humans being devious and using ingenuity to cause havoc to other players. The note states that after the event, the creature was changed so it will not enter Stormwind.
[edit] Aggro Links
The article links several times to "aggro", but I don't think the link goes where it is supposed to go. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.163.130.50 (talk) 00:02, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
