Kitashitara District, Aichi

Kitashitara (北設楽郡; -gun) is a district located in Aichi, Japan.
As of 2004, the district has an estimated population of 12,346. The total area is 553.27 km².
There are two towns and one village within the district.
The town of Inabu became part of the now-defunct Higashikamo District on October 1, 2003. (The town was later merged into the city of Toyota on April 1, 2005)
The town of Shitara merged with the former village of Tsugu on October 1, 2005 to form the town of Shitara.
The village of Tomiyama was merged into the village of Toyone on November 27, 2005.

The district was located within the former Mikawa Province under Ritsuryo. Shitara District was formed in 903 from Hoi District.
