Kit Cavanagh, also known as Mother Ross and Christian Davies, was a woman who fought as a dragoon in the 1690s. Although she initially disguised herself as man, she eventually fought openly as a woman. She owned and operated public houses between campaigns. She died of natural causes in 1739 and was given a military burial.[1]
