[edit] History

The school originally opened in July 2000 as an elementary school. In 2005, the school was expanded to 6th Grade, and eventually to 7th and 8th Grade.

[edit] Building

KCA has 2 buildings connected by a walkway. The first contains classes for Pre-K to 1st Grade. This building also contains the nurse's office and 2 playgrounds, one for Pre-K and Kindergardeners and one, for the other grades. The middle space between the 2 buildings houses a HOPS garden (a.k.a the Bus area), a field, and a shaded area that was built in 2008. The second building is called the Main Building and houses the grades 2-8 classrooms. The building contains the Main Office used for regristation, volunteer hour submission, and more. The second building also contains a Butterfly Garden, the Cafeteria, the Library, Computer Lab, teacher's lounge, basketball court, and soccer field w/goals. The basketball court, previously larger, was moved for construction of portables for music, art, and 2nd Grade classrooms, but the court has now been modified from 4 hoops to 2 hoops. There is also a fence in the portable area designed to prevent students from running into the lake (filled with alligators, as presumed by some Kindergarten rumor).
