[edit] Formation
Kisschasy was formed in 2002. Three of the four members of the band grew up in the small country town of Balnarring in the Mornington Peninsula. Darren Cordeux, the lead singer and guitarist, grew up in Cranbourne in Melbourne, Victoria. He turned 23 in February 2008. He is a vegan and the youth ambassador for Animals Australia.[2]. he recently broke up with his girlfrined tahlia. Cordeux left school early in order to pursue his music career. One of the reasons for this was because the school he went to did not offer music as a subject. During this time he wrote songs on his guitar and toured around the country with his parents. He has played in numerous bands switching between vocals, keyboards, guitar and drums; before he got his big break in Kisschasy. Joel Vanderuit bassist, Sean Thomas guitarist and Karl Ammitzboll drummer played in a local band called Tenpin, who achieved a little local success. The formation of Kisschasy happened when Cordeux's band met Joel's, Karl's and Sean's band Tenpin at the Art House in Melbourne and they met on the Warped Tour in May 2002. A few months later Joel called Darren and said he wanted to form a band because he liked Darren's voice.
[edit] First releases/United Paper People (2004-2005)
The band released two EPs on indie label Below Par Records. The band's debut singles were "Darkside" and "Reminder", taken from their two EP's Darkside/Stay Awake and Cara Sposa.
Kisschasy's debut album United Paper People was recorded and produced by Phillip McKellar (Silverchair, Grinspoon) in Sydney during February 2005. The band then flew to Seattle in March of the same year to mix United Paper People with Barrett Jones of Nirvana and the Foo Fighters.
The first single from the album was "Do-Do's & Whoa-Oh's", which gained heavy rotation on both commercial and alternative radio. The band also received a "Best breakthrough artist-single" for "Do-Do's & Whoa-Oh's", as well as Channel V Oz Artist of the Year and ARIA nominations.[3] Kisschasy were also nominated for the "Spankin' New Aussie Artist" award at the MTV Australia Video Music Awards 2006. The singles that followed from the album were "Face Without a Name", "This Bed" and "The Shake". United Paper People has recently gone gold in Australia, selling in excess of 40,000 copies.[4]
[edit] Hymns for the Nonbeliever (2006-2007)

They recruited UK producer Chris Sheldon, who had previously worked with acts such as the Pixies, Radiohead, Anthrax and Foo Fighters, to produce, engineer, and mix. The album was recorded at "The Grove" studios in the Central Coast of NSW and "Rockinghorse" studios just outside of Byron Bay throughout the months of December/January. The album was mastered by Howie Weinberg in New York City, except for the first two singles ("Opinions Won't Keep You Warm at Night" and "Spray on Pants"), which were mixed by Jerry Finn. Hymns for the Nonbeliever was released on Saturday 21st July, 2007. The album features a louder, more rock-orientated sound than their previous album.
