[edit] Why moved?

I don't see any reason for the move Kiryat Shmona massacre to "assault", not even a discussion. This is commonly known as massacre and indeed was one. Moving back. ←Humus sapiens ну? 04:06, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

"massacre" is too POV, let's use less POV word. For comparison, 2006 Qana airstrike kill more people than this attack, yet it is not titled as 'massacre'. Does wikipedia use different standard if it is done by israel? Nielswik(talk) 10:17, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Are you trying to equate an execution-style murder with an airstrike when the building collapsed hours after the bombs fell down? ←Humus sapiens ну? 10:42, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
No matter the way of killing, the fact is 2nd Qana massacre kills more people than this. So what is criterion of massacre? If 2nd qana massacre doesnt fall to massacre according to wikipedia standard, this article shouldn't either. Nielswik(talk) 16:07, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Sure it does matter. This is not some game of numbers. ←Humus sapiens ну? 21:19, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

To refer to killing as a "massacre" is to make a statement that it was wanton, unjustified and despicable. If you asked my personal opinion, I would therefore say that the Kiryat Shmona event was a massacre, while the Qana event was not. However, it is inappropriate for Wikipedia to make such statements, and so I agree with Nielswik. – Smyth\talk 15:26, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

There are guidelines for naming articles for controversial events and incidents here: Wikipedia:Naming conventions (events). They were put together for exactly this kind of situation. Kla'quot 02:54, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
