Talk:Kirk Lombard
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm currently adding biographical and other verifying information for this page, will have it up in a few moments, please don't delete this page!
- Your best bet to prevent deletion is to add material from reputable sources, showing how this person meets the WP:BIO guidelines for inclusion. Friday (talk) 19:49, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm, maybe it's just me, but between the fish, the having a job, and the street band, I still don't see much indication that this guys meets the expectations for a biography. If we had an article on the fish, I could see mentioning the largest recorded one in that article, though. I guess it depends tho- did he become famous among fishermen for the catch? If a major fishing magazines interviewed him, that would count for something. Friday (talk) 20:22, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
- I'll have some more material related to the fish, the band (they are widely regarded in San Francisco, I'm getting articles together now), street performances, an international tour, and other publications this afternoon. Additionally, Kirk is more or less an expert on monkey face angling & will be providing some input on an article on this little-known sport, also hopefully this afternoon Ericrodenbeck (talk) 15:57, 7 April 2006 (PST)
- I'm fairly new to wikipedia as a writer, and want to make sure this article isn't a Vanity_page. Lombard is a locally well-known local author, performer and fisherman, with a wide range of impacts on the San Francisco cultural scene. My understanding is that it's OK to have this article build up over time; hopefully the editors will agree & allow this page to grow.Ericrodenbeck (talk) 16:06, 7 April 2006 (PST)
- Well, perhaps he's no Emperor Norton, but the article seems to be improving and does have sources now. To be honest, I halfway suspected this article might be a hoax when I first saw it, mostly because "monkeyface prickleback eel" is such a funny name. There's no guarantee what others will do, but I see no reason to worry about deleting this article at this point. Friday (talk) 23:29, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
