Kirrak was a railway branch line, it was built in the 1930's to service the Kirrak Coal mine located near the town of Wonthaggi. The branch line operated until 1968, the short section of line was closed after the closure of the mine. For a period after the closure the Monash Railway club ran a 153hp Walker Railcar along the track.
