Kirk Sutherland is a character in the British television soap opera Coronation Street who first appeared in October 2000. Kirk is Maria Connor's brother, a less than bright lad but with a good heart. A good mate of Tyrone Dobbs and Jason Grimshaw and long standing ex-boyfriend of Fiz Brown, he is also friends with Les Battersby-Brown, with whom he lived and gets up to all sorts of tricks.
[edit] Storylines
Kirk lost the kennels in May 2007 following a lawsuit over the neutering of the wrong dog (who was a pedigree specimen), and in the course of a week proposed to Fiz, who turned him down and announced she no longer wanted to date him. Kirk was left heartbroken and humiliated.
On May 18, 2007. Kirk and Jamie Baldwin rescued Claire Peacock from her burning house. As a reward Ashley gave him a job at his butchers, but in March 2008 due to slow business he had to let him go.
After Cilla left for America in 2007, Kirk was left to look after her son Chesney. They were like two kids left on their own. They left the house in a mess and bought lots of take-aways. In March 2008, Claire felt guilty after her husband let Kirk go from his job. She went round to the house and was shocked to find it in a mess. She called Social Services, who came and took Chesney away. When Fiz returned from holiday she was furious but forgave Kirk. She managed to get Chesney home but she had to move in with them, making Kirk believe she still had feelings for him.
In April 2008 Kirk accepted Maria's offer to pay for him to visit their parents, Eric and Dotty in Cyprus for a few weeks while Fiz provided a stable home for Chesney. On his return, he breaks the news to Fiz that he has a new girlfriend called Julie whom he has fallen in love with.
