[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Treasure Ship and Santa Maria.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:Treasure Ship and Santa Maria.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] page protection at derek smart
Please reprotect Derek Smart. The the page is the subject of one of the most heated and virulent edit wars I've seen on wikipedia. It's currently at ArbCom regarding the content of the page, which is why the page is protected. The case is in Motion to Close at this time, it's not going to be too much longer, but it needs to be protected until the proper remedies against the tendentious editors can be approved by ArbCom. Thank you. ⇒ SWATJester On Belay! 19:46, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I had a crash course in protecting articles on Wikipedia. Sorry about that. Talked with User:Xiner about it, if you're curious. ZueJaytalk 04:37, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Why did you delete my article on XCM?
Hello. I recently created an article on XCM, or 'Extreme Card Manipulation' for Wikipedia and was very disappointed to find that it has been deleted. I tried as hard as I could to comply with all the Wikipedia rules and did not see anything that would point to it needing deletion. I'd just like to ask why it was deleted? Thanks for reading.

- The subject is not notable enough to merit an article. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 20:37, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] EPS to SVG
I've noticed that you've uploaded Image:Microsoft Windows.svg. How do you convert an EPS file (downloaded from http://brandsoftheworld.com) to an SVG? Which program(s) should be used? (I know that Inkscape does not work; it can only export to EPS, not import.) Thanks. -- King of Hearts 23:42, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Adobe Illustrator>SVG>Inkscape>Inkscape SVG. I've searched and searched but have found no free EPS->SVG tools. I hate to use pirated stuff, but I'm not going to pay to convert to a format which works in a free editor to make images for a free encyclopedia. --Indolences 01:14, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thank You!
hi, thank you so much for removing the deletion from the sports trainer page, it's good to know that there are good people on wikipedia. I worked really hard to create and maintain that page and for someone to just come up and try to delete it really upsets me, so thank you for your refusal to delete. Thanks again. [edit] Dispute resolved
Hi, you have recently protected the page Current international disputes with Iran because of an article title dispute. If you scroll to the bottom of the talk page you will see that this dispute has been resolved and the two parties have agreed to rename the article Current international tensions with Iran. I would appreciate if you could un-protect the page so I could make the move. Thanks, Joshdboz 01:21, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- I have moved it; however, the page needs to remain move-protected for about two weeks to prevent bad-faith users from disrupting Wikipedia to illustrate a point by moving it again. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 04:29, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Ok, no problem. Thanks, Joshdboz 12:18, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks also for your help in settling this issue. By the way I discovered on this occasion that it was too easy to move a page and difficult to move it back. Alain10 20:57, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Martian global warming - censored at last
[edit] Well the Censors Finally Succeeded in Killing off the Martian global warming Page
Yesterday King of Hearts posted the results of the AfD poll, he stated: "This article was nominated for deletion on 18 February 2007. The result of the discussion was no consensus."
Less than an hour later Sbandrews arbitrarily killed the article with the single word "redirect" as the only comment. The page is now reduced to a couple of paragraphs at the bottom of the Climate of Mars page where it will never be found or read. When the AfD was "no consensus" how do they have the right to unilaterally destroy hundreds of hours of work and go against the votes???
The documented history of Censorship:
- (diff) (hist) . . Martian global warming; 21:37 . . (+33) . . Sbandrews (Talk | contribs) (redirect)
- (diff) (hist) . . Talk:Martian global warming; 20:46 . . (+96) . . King of Hearts (Talk | contribs) (Article survived AfD with no consensus)
-- Rameses 05:08, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
-
- Your intervention here was unhelpful. In the absence of consensus, its up to the editors of the page to decide what to do with it. By my count, the AFD got 14 merge votes, 9 delete and 5 keep; which makes merge/delete by far the most popular: so I don't understand why you reverted the merge and even removed the tags. By all means join in if you have become interested in the subject, though William M. Connolley 10:14, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Alim777 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log)
I've unblocked this user. 48 hours for one image removal is pretty harsh even if we do consider it to be blatant vandalism. I would be more sympathetic if we knew the user was privy to the conversations on the talk page before he made the edit but we really don't know. I will give a sever warning and hope it won't happen again. If it does after I've pointed them to the discussion then it will be fine to block. gren グレン 04:39, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
