[edit] AFD Bot
I think your AFD Bot is running slightly off time. Just a few minutes ago, at only 23:53, it auto-updated AFD instead of at 0:00. -- King of Hearts | (talk) 23:57, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
- That's intentional. There are several scripts that the bot operates at the same time, and I don't want the server to block any of the bot's requests so I intentionally update the AFD page first. So for about 7 minutes, the page is redlinked. --AllyUnion (talk) 08:23, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] COTWs
Hey King of Hearts, thanks for your useful help in the COTW-process. However, when picking a new one..don't forget to remove the {{cotw}}-template from the old one, and to modify {{cpcotw}} and {{currentCOTWS}}. Please keep that in mind for next time, otherwise thanks for your good work!SoothingR 10:40, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I don't see how the {{cotw2}} and {{cotw3}}-topic relates to my above comments...but I'll answer your question anyway. Yes, it will be wise to use those templates in the future, thanks for that suggestion.SoothingR 06:21, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy keep?
Hey, you just closed this discussion: [1]. According to Wikipedia:Speedy_keep, this can only happen "ONLY if one of the following holds:
-
- the nominator withdraws the AFD and there have been no votes to delete so far
- the nominator clearly states that s/he actually wants the article renamed, merged, moved or redirected, rather than deleted, and the AFD has not yet received any valid delete votes
- the nomination was clear-cut vandalism or WP:POINT and nobody disputes this or votes to delete it anyway (since calling a nomination vandalistic does not make it so and actual POINT-making AFD nominations appear far less frequently than accusations thereof)."
You're in clear violation of this rule. Please either revert it back, or I'll report to the admins. Peter S. 23:55, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] re:Semi-Protection of George W. Bush
Hi, I was wondering why you changed the template on the George W. Bush page from {{sprotected}} to {{sprotected-small}}. (Please answer on my talk page.) -- King of Hearts | (talk) 05:17, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
- Firstly, I felt that having code at the top of the page was unproductive, and it was not my descision to have the box and image removed, I merely coppied them. I now see that this was coppied from another template {{Sp-semiprotected}}, and that my template should likely be deleted. I added this template to the page as it looks much better than code, and is smaller than {{semi-protected}}. Thanks, Mysekurity 12:15, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Popups installation
Two things:
- It's User:King of Hearts/monobook.js, not User:King of Hearts/Monobook.js. I suspect that neither file was deleted, but you just got confused between them.
- Don't use + signs before options. This will cause a javascript error which probably stops the script from executing. In other words, change this:
+ popupFixRedirs=true; + popupFixDabs=true; + popupLastEditLink=false;
to this:
popupFixRedirs=true; popupFixDabs=true; popupLastEditLink=false;

I think that proposing to move Washington was inappropriate as it was only one week ago that the same proposal failed to achieve consensus, in the section immediately above yours. [edit] AFD Eeyore's
I'd like to ask you to withdraw your nomination for deletion for Eeyore's Birthday Party. I have created an extensively referenced article which shows the event is attended by thousands every year -- under what criteria do you feel this is non-notable? Kit O'Connell (Todfox: user / talk / contribs) 00:10, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- Here is a quote from this article published in 2005 in the Daily Texan: Thousands of children, parents, college students and hippies camped out at Pease Park on Saturday afternoon to celebrate Eeyore's birthday for the 42nd time since the celebration began 1963. I want to Assume good faith, but it does feel as though you did not try to follow my references before nominating this article. Kit O'Connell (Todfox: user / talk / contribs) 00:18, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- Still, I don't think something like this is really notable enough to be on Wikipedia. -- King of Hearts | (talk) 00:20, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- An event attended by thousands every year doesn't merit a mention? When would a festival be notable? 1000 attendees? 2000? 10,000? At the very least you should correct your AfD to remove the idea that this was something I 'made up in school.' Thanks. Kit O'Connell (Todfox: user / talk / contribs) 00:29, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- Never mind, I'll withdraw the nomination. It sounded a bit made up though, so it might need some cleanup. -- King of Hearts | (talk) 00:40, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re Reverting vandalism
Actually it's a script. This one [2]. It doesn't work with popups though. It will add a "rollback" button on the diff page. Alternatively you can copy everything from this page [3] and you can modify it.
- Well, from what I know the script doesn't work right with IE (at least for me), as you will see the "script error" at the status bar while trying to preform a rollback. Sorry but I don't know anything other than that. --Ichiro (山本一郎) 00:28, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nuke Polkacide?
OK, I give up; why do you want the Polkacide article to be deleted? Sheesh, I don't think it was more than 2 minutes after I saved the goddamn thing that your tag appeared. Care to explain why? (I created it as a stub for others to expand on.) --ILike2BeAnonymous 05:16, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
OK, you say the reason for deletion is that it is "vanity about a non-notable band". This leaves the question, who determines this—and how? Can you specifically say why you believe Polkacide is non-notable? I'd say, judging by the other articles here (such as tons of articles about fictional characters in questionably-important works like The Simpsons, etc.) that this band is a lot more "notable".
I am familiar with the band, though not a member, friend or fan, and I believe that they are significant at least within their region (S.F. Bay Area) and therefore worthy of mention here.
I look forward to hearing your further explanations. --ILike2BeAnonymous 05:30, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
I accuse you of being entirely too overzealous in posting requests for deletion (apropos the Polkacide article). The following is copied from that article's talk page:
Please don't nuke me!
Along with the recent assertions of non-non-notability made by PJM, let me add one more: Polkacide was featured on a segment of NPR's All Things Considered (link here).
To be honest, it does piss me off a bit, because those who absolutely leapt to move to delete this article could have done the same research (I provided the link to the band's website, which contains this link). I believe this overzealous requesting deletion is actually against the general sense of Wikipedia's rules, if not the letter. It was literally within less than 5 minutes after I created this article that the rfd "tag" appeared on it. No mention on any talk pages. I mean, whoa: back off, call off your dogs, OK? --ILike2BeAnonymous 16:45, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] How many entries?
Can the number of entires in google really be used to determine notability of a subject? And if so, what number is the "threshold" to be crossed in order to be a notable article? 100? 500? Who determines this number? Thanks for all of your help, this is very interesting to me as this is the first time I've seen a page deleted due to "lack of" more than 70 google entries through a search. Madangry 00:46, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- The Google test is just a rough guideline to check for notability, and less than 100 results probably isn't enough. -- King of Hearts | (talk) 00:51, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- "This technique works reasonably well for weeding out hoaxes, fictions, and personal theories and hypotheses. It can also be used to ascertain whether a topic is of sufficiently broad interest to merit inclusion in the wiki, though this application is highly subject to bias...In some cases, articles have been kept with Google hit counts as low as 15 and some claim that this undermines the validity of the Google test in its entirety. However, in fact, this reflects on the rather uneven and subjective nature of the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion process more than on the usefulness of the Google test. The Google test has always been and very likely always will remain an imperfect tool used to produce a general gauge of notability. It is not and should never be considered definitive." Madangry 00:56, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- An album should be discussed in the internet pretty often, so the Google test for You Call This Music?! Volume 2 is relatively accurate. If there is less than 100 Google hits, it's more likely than not to be non-notable. -- King of Hearts | (talk) 01:03, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- I whole-heartedly agree that albums should be discussed in the internet pretty often (on a side note: "should be" doesn't mean "will be."). No offense to your perspective or thoughts on the subject but, again, how often is "pretty often." No doubt Cypress Hill or Hillary Duff albums will have more hits than an underground punk compilation album. In my eyes that does not make the mainstream album any more notable than the underground album. Also...I could probably see more of your perspective if it was less than 20 hits, or 10. But 69? That seems like an adequate number of links for an underground album which came out in 2002. And this...is my perspective. Anyway, thanks for the nice debate. Madangry 01:17, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
