An event does not have to have international influence for it to be of interest to a DOY reader. An event may be notable significant in France or in Bulgaria, but not internationally influential. That should be okay for DOY.

Having only globally important events will limit the DOY pages and remove a lot of the enjoyment of reading such pages.

Here is a breakdown of what I think should be considered for DOY events.
