I'd like to know if the linked google satellite maps have been modified in any way. I'm a student and my understanding is that Kingston isn't located where the maps say it is, so just wondering if they can do anything to those images. I suppose I should wonder why they'd want to do anything to them.

"Kingston", the old city of Kingston, is actually a part of the larger "Kingston and Saint Andrew". It's no longer a separate city in the old sense. Hoserjoe (talk) 17:36, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Born in Kingston

I removed this section because it had only a single entry. Apart from the fact that "born in Kingston" isn't enough of a reason to be mentioned in an encyclopaedia (think about what a complete list would look like), having only a single name makes it look like he is the only prominent Kingstonian. I think that a longer list of "Prominent Kingstonians" would be appropriate, but a single listing is not balanced, and is thus not NPOV. Guettarda 15:11, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

IS there a capital of Jamaica? I need pictures for a report on Jamaica.

  • A little, it proves that you didn't read the first line of the article.--Dp462090 | Talk | Contrib | 20:16, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Photos

I have added a pic of Devon House one of the tourist spots in Kingston -- Op. Deo 14:23, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Grammar/usage

The article says: "Two parts comprise the central area of Kingston ..." A thing is not "comprised of" its parts; it "comprises" them. It one wants to use some form of the word "comprise," then it should read, "The central area of Kingston comprises two parts ..."

Fixed. Sometimes it's easier to fix these yourself than to write up the error. --CliffC 03:10, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Please controll link to esperanto version. I think it's uncorrect because it's not same thing. --Hgav 20:21, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 1862 fire

Was this a typo for 1882? I've added 1882 in, but I can't find confirmation of the 1862 one. Adam Cuerden talk 02:48, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Named for?

University Challenge has just stated that Kingston was name for William III of England (William of Orange). Does anyone know if this is accurate, and if it is, I would suggest that it goes in. Ged UK 20:15, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
