The author writes "Westphalian Guards heroically but unsuccessfully charged the Raevski Redoubt during the Battle of Borodino."

What source do you cite for this claim? The Saxon Cuirassiers successfully took the Redoubt and the Westphalian 1st and 2nd Cuirassiers, Line formations not Royal Guard, which were attached to the Saxons in the same Heavy Cavalry Division, were in support. The Garde du Corps, which was only a company strength formation, returned to Westphalia with King Jerome, and the balance of the Westphalian Army, Corps X, was in the south with Davout.
