[edit] Footnotes

The same source is referenced many, many times, with only the page number changing. See WP:FOOT, WP:CITE, and WP:CITE#Short_footnotes_with_alphabetized_full_citations for possible alternative methods that would be easier on the reader. This is in no way a criticism, but just a suggestion that there may be easier ways of doing the referencing throughout the article, that allow the reader to see which book it came from immediately. Many of the featured articles use similar styles of footnote formatting, but I did not feel it was proper to change so many footnotes/references without any kind of discussion, so instead, I left the tag, and posted this message. Understood and thanks for reading the article :) Scott Free (talk) 05:43, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
I can go do some research, if you want help with this, I've really never had a reason to use this style of formatting, (sort of how one would use "ibid" when writing a paper") because nearly all the references I use in articles are from online news reports, and only rarely books. So I'm not familiar with this way of doing references. I'll need to dig through some featured articles, and see how they are done, before I feel comfortable changing anything. I considered just using the <ref name="name"> option, but that would remove all the page numbers, and those are actually the reference, so they need to stay. If you'd like me to work on it, just let me know, but I'll need a few hours to examine some of the featured articles, and learn how to do this kind of citation style. Okay I studied up, and I think this way works. I've placed all the books in alphabetical order, in the "Sources" header, and under them are the footnotes, that specify the last name of the author to indicate which book it comes from, and the page number the reference relates to. What do you think? :) ArielGold 00:05, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
Thnx a bunch. Now I just gotta find some pics. Scott Free (talk) 00:11, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
Ack! Sorry I forgot to remove the tag, lol. ~*Bonks head on desk*~ Yeah, pictures would be good! ArielGold 00:22, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] pics

Just added a pic I found on the Igbo-Ukwu page. I'm not sure what the copyright status is, but until its removed i'll keep it up. I saw the sculpture elsewhere and it clearly portrays an ndi Nri or mbreechi priest (notice the facial scarification). HOLLA Scott Free (talk) 02:19, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
