Talk:Kingdom
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I think it was better the first way, with the word "biology" linked to biology, instead of also going to kingdom (biology). And besides, if you do it for "biology", why not for "politics"? (Not that I'm saying you should, I still think it should be reverted.) -- John Owens 06:03 Apr 3, 2003 (UTC)
I did this redirect because someone reaching this page wants to know about Kingdom (biology), not Biology; that's why they came to the page in the first place. jaknouse 06:07 Apr 3, 2003 (UTC)
- I reworded to include both relevant links. Is this acceptable to everyone? Tuf-Kat
Are a kingdom and a monarchy the same thing? The reason I ask is because I have always thought a monarchy is what has power over a kingdom, but I've never used it myself as a descriptive of the country. -- Graham :) 18:22, 17 Jan 2004 (UTC)
- No, they are not. It is from the greek: monos (one) and arkhein (rule). As we understand the word, a monarchy is hereditary. So the duchy of Luxembourg is a monarchy. GerardM 11:04, 18 Jan 2004 (UTC)

- A Kingdom is a monarchy ruled by a king or queen. As such the redirect is OK as monarchy explains the other aspects of what a kingdom is.
