The lines There's a king on a throne with his eyes torn out/There's a blind man looking for a shadow of doubt seem to reference Oedipus.

Also, the lines referring to 'sleeping on a golden bed' and 'choking on a crust of bread' may refer to the plight of King Midas (after he got what he wished for).

On the CD Every Breath You Take: The Singles it lists it as being "King Of Pain." I think this article is listed improperly and should be fixed. Elfred (talk) 04:17, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
