The National Playing Fields Association has kindly provided a full history and permitted it to be released into the public domain: "The NPFA has no objection to you reproducing the King George's Fields information or placing it in the public domain." on 20 June 2006. The major updates today reflect that information and are a direct reproduction of it with permission. These include the entrance plaques and the history.

Realising that this is wikipedia I am simply asking editors to seek to respect that source material and, while "editing it unmercifully", to retain the spirit in which it was supplied and uploaded.

  • It could be argued that some of the information in this article is duplicated within it. I have chosen to preserve it as supplied by the NPFA rather than edit it down. Fiddle Faddle 19:33, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
