Tōkaidō Main Line runs next to this staion and Ito Line is seemed to separate from Tōkaidō Main Line at this station, but only Ito Line has a station at this location.
0km indicator of Ito Line is at this station, and it shows that tracks to the east of this station belong to Tokaido Line.
CTC center of Ito Line used to be located here, but along with its renewal to one that includes the controller of tracks at Atami Station in Autumn of 2006, it moved to Atami.

- March 30, 1935: Opened as a station of Itō Line along its opening between Atami and Ajiro.
- April 1, 1987: Along with division and privatization of JNR, East Japan Railway Company started operating this station.
