Kingsley is a city in Plymouth County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,245 at the 2000 census. In the 1880s Herbert Hoover lived in the Kingsley community for a short time, following the deaths of his parents.

Kingsley is located on the edge of the unique land form region called the Loess Hills.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 1,245 people, 524 households, and 344 families residing in the city. The population density was 777.3 people per square mile (300.4/km²). There were 569 housing units at an average density of 355.3/sq mi (137.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.47% White, 0.24% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.24% Pacific Islander, and 0.72% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.32% of the population.
There were 524 households out of which 28.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.8% were married couples living together, 6.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.2% were non-families. 32.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 20.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.30 and the average family size was 2.92.
In the city the population was spread out with 24.7% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 22.5% from 25 to 44, 19.6% from 45 to 64, and 26.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 92.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.6 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $34,697, and the median income for a family was $41,513. Males had a median income of $33,750 versus $24,844 for females. The per capita income for the city was $19,052. About 4.4% of families and 6.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 9.2% of those under age 18 and 4.3% of those age 65 or over.
