Kingsborough Early College Secondary School (KECSS), or I. S. 468 is a junior high school that currently has 6th and 7th Grade in it. Due to its position, this school is now in the temporary zone of the Kingsborough Community College Campus at the T7 Building. This school will be relocating at the Lafayette High School, which closed down, in September 2008 with 4 other schools in it. KECSS is currently working to make a high school program so students won't get transfered to another school instead. After students graduate from this school (at high school level), they will receive 60 free college credits.

[edit] School moving
The new school (Lafayette High School) is located on the corner of Benson Avenue and Stillwell Avenue. The school will have a transfer to the New York City Bus routes B1, B3, and B4 after walking 2 blocks on Stillwell. This school has 4 floors as 4 schools will move there and KECSS will have half of the first floor.
[edit] After-School Programs / Extended Day Periods
After-School Programs programs are the type of lessons that may teach students ahead and beyond the topic. If students have problems with subjects like Writing, ELA, Science, and Math they may take this course.
[edit] Enrichment Clusters
Enrichment Clusters are activities that are only on Fridays that let students be a grown up and show jobs that grown ups can do like actors, gardeners, doctors, hair stylists, and even famous poets. There are 3 cluster sessions each year. For the survey, there will be recommended clusters that students may choose. On the survey, students may choose 4 of the clusters that students are most interested in. The clusters change as sessions approach.
[edit] Advisory
Advisory, formally known as first period, is a warm up lesson where students get to do some fun activities. On Fridays, it is in the middle of the day as the 5th period. Advisory can keep students running throughout the day without getting sleepy or tiresome.
[edit] A. V. T. Squad
The AVT Squad is a group of 6th and 7th graders at KECSS. AVT Squad stands for Audio, Visual, and Technical Assistance Squad. They provide technical assistance to the entire school. They also transport televisions to classrooms when a class watches a movie. Another thing they do is video tape or take photographs of special events that go on at KECSS like Town Hall Meetings or museum trips.
[edit] College Action Plan / CAP
College Action Plan, or CAP, is a lesson on Fridays that teaches students world round topics that are based on topic learned in college. As this is an early college school, this school prepares students for college by making them learn college lessons. There are 2 types of CAP. There is a Test-Prep CAP, which prepares students for state exams, and College-Type CAP, which gives students college lessons. Once students get used to it, they will pass college more easily and faster.
[edit] S. T. A. M. P. Program
The STAMP Program (Selling Tobacco & Alcohol to Minors Program) wants everyone in New York City to ban alcohol and tobacco selling. Signing up for banning is designed to be simple as students get a STAMP sweatshirt and a STAMP Kingsborough Community College magnet.
