Kingdom of Whydah

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kingdom of Whydah or Kingdom of Hueda was a kingdom on the coast of West Africa in the boundaries of the modern nation of Benin. It was a major slave trading post.

It received this name because most of the European slave traders lived and worked in the port city of Ouidah. However the capital of the kingdom was at Savi. The last ruler of this land was King Haffon.
