King road drag

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The King road drag is a horse-drawn implement for grading dirt roads. It was invented around 1900 by D. Ward King of Maitland, Missouri, and he encouraged rural residents to build and use it. It was of simple construction, consisting of two parallel half-logs or planks kept 3 feet apart by rigid separators. When the road was wet, it was pulled by a team of horses to remove ruts and produce a crowned surface.
