Mingling the discovery of Greek fire with the quest for the Holy Grail, the book continues to interweave real historical events and fictitious characters in a violent and gripping medieval romp. At the beginning, we see Shef as the powerful King of the North who wields an enormous amount of power and is very wealthy, quite a contrast to the first book where Shef is an awkward young man who is almost a peasant. By the end of the book, the modern notion of tolerance is endorsed by characters in the novel.
