King Morpheus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
King Morpheus is the king of Slumberland as depicted in the Little Nemo comics and in Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland movie in 1989. His name comes from the Greek God of dreams Morpheus. Though only stated in the movie, the King likes to be called "Morphy" by name, as is shown when Nemo calls him King Morpheus, though this only happened once. He is also the father of Princess Camille, who is also shown in the Little Nemo comics and movie.
[edit] Little Nemo comics
In the comics, King Morpheus calls upon Little Nemo to be his daughter's official playmate. Little Nemo though, won't meet him until weeks later because Nemo keeps waking up through his journey to the King and the Princess.
[edit] Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland (movie)
In the movie, King Morpheus does the same as he did in the comics: inviting Nemo to be Princess Camille's official playmate. But he also makes Nemo his rightful heir to the throne. The King is seen as a jolly old man with a long puffy beard (very reminiscent of Santa Claus) and sometimes likes to be called "Morphy". He is kidnapped halfway through the movie by the Nightmare King but is soon rescued, along with everyone else, by Little Nemo who uses the royal scepter to defeat the Nightmare King.
He is voiced by Bernard Erhard.
