King (mostly referred to as either King ov Hell or TC King) is a Norwegian musician, best known as the bassist and co-frontman of the Gaahl-fronted version of Norwegian black metal band Gorgoroth. He joined Gorgoroth in 1999 as a full time bassist and wrote their two most recent albums. Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam (Regain Records and Candlelight Records), was nominated for the Norwegian Spellemann Award in 2006. He works as a primary school teacher in Bergen, as did former drummer Kvitrafn.
As TC King, he played bass in 2006 supergroup "I" along with Abbath Doom Occulta of Immortal, Ice Dale (Arve Isdal of Enslaved, Audrey Horne and Bourbon Flame) and former Immortal drummer Armagedda on Between Two Worlds (Nuclear Blast).[1]
King and former Gorgoroth drummer Kvitrafn recorded and released the "noisy black metal" side project Jotunspor Gleipnirs Smeder in 2006 for Satanas Rex and released in the US on Candlelight Records.[2]
King also plays bass in Sahg, a "gloom and doom flavored" metal band also hailing from Bergen, Norway. Their 2006 release on Regain Records Sahg 1 was quickly followed by several festival appearances and a supporting position on Celtic Frost's 2006 North American Tour along with 1349.[3] King plays both Bass Guitar and Drums on the Sahg track "Boundless Demise"
As bassist for Spellemann Award winners (the Norwegian equivalent to the Grammy) Audrey Horne, King is billed as Tom. Audrey Horne's album No Hay Banda (Tuba Records) was released in 2005 and won the Norwegian Grammy January 2006 in Oslo for "Best Metal Act". Audrey Horne plays straight-forward American sounding rock and also features guitarist Arve Isdal of Enslaved and I among its members.[4]
Under his real name, Tom Cato Visnes, King has also participated as bassist in the Norwegian drum and bass band Clububba, together with Herbrand Larsen from Enslaved and Brynjulv Guddal from Malignant Eternal. They were active during the early 2000's, and played at the by:Larm festival in Bergen in 2000.[1][2]
King currently resides in Bergen and frequently plays backgammon.
King recentley re-united with drum and bass quartet Clububba, introducing Secthdamon on vocals. The band will be playing in a few nightclubs and beach parties in Spain in Summer.
