[edit] CP Vio issues
Please understand that you cannot just take photos from a website that can easily be taken by anyone walking around on the street for free. Logos are permissible, and I've adjusted those to be properly cited, however many of the university photos you've taken from websites are unacceptable:

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:0B1.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:0B1.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Globus.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Globus.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 16:52, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image source problem with Image:Mustafa II.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Mustafa II.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:45, 21 February 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 14:45, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- I took the picture from here http://hr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slika:Mustafa2.jpg and it states that the picture is in Public Domain because the copyright has expired. Please correct me if I'm wrong. (Kimse) 21 February 2008

- Ah, okay. I tried finding this image on the Croatian Wikipedia and failed because it's not the same filename over there (and I don't read Croatian very well). In the future, if you take something from a Wikipedia in another language, at the very least include a link to the original version. Better would be to copy all the source and licensing information along with the image. Wikipedia can't be its own source.
- However, this particular image didn't need to be copied here at all. This is an image from the Wikimedia Commons, and such images are available on all language Wikipedias anyway (so it's available here at Image:Mustafa2.jpg). You can identify images on the Commons by the little box with the Commons logo. I'm going to tag Image:Mustafa II.jpg as redundant to the image which is already on the Commons and switch the image references in 1695. We only need to have one copy of this image.
- Let me know if you have questions. —Bkell (talk) 05:05, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Baku music academy logo.gif
Thank you for uploading Image:Baku music academy logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:16, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Copyright problems
Hello. Concerning your contribution, Image:Eli Wallach.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://outnow.ch/Media/Img/2006/Holiday/movie.p/08. As a copyright violation, Image:Eli Wallach.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Image:Eli Wallach.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.
If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:
-
- If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Image:Eli Wallach.jpg and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Image:Eli Wallach.jpg with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Image:Eli Wallach.jpg.
However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. Thuresson (talk) 18:45, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Ganja
I did that move two years ago, at the time saying, "if "ganja" is no longer a dab page, then there's no reason for the (city) dab". At the time, Ganja, I believe, redirected to Ganja (city), so I saw no point in keeping the (city) part. --Golbez (talk) 16:26, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Nfk.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Nfk.png. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 03:39, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Redundant images
There's a glitch in an admin tool [1] which has been working fine until recently. I've sent a note to the script writer and will probably pull it off the pages it's used on until there is a fix given. I'm also contacting the creator of those image category template pages to remove this until the bug is fixed. I'm assuming I'm not the only one this has affected as of late. [edit] Yes
But it is hardly styled like an impartial panorama. If we're going to include it, we should include something from the Armenian side too. I think its better to wait until the commons deletion request is over. It would be good if someone were to have answers to my questions in that respect :) - Francis Tyers · 06:29, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, I think a photograph of the city (abandoned or not) would be a nice addition neutral addition to the article. Are there any freely licensed ones? - Francis Tyers · 22:03, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

- None of those were massacres committed during wartime operations, so are not comparable. They are also not disputed by either side, so My Lai massacre would not be an appropriate comparison either. This is an example where a descriptive image is used, as is Greysteel massacre. If I don't see any development on the licensing issue I may change my vote on commons. - Francis Tyers · 12:02, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:AI 133 fcover.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:AI 133 fcover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 11:33, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
